Cinnabon now served at NW Grand Prairie Schlotzsky’s Deli

August 17, 2010 – Although, you wouldn’t have guessed it from the name, Schlotzsky’s Deli is a Texas original.  It was created nearly 40 years ago in Austin, by Don and Delores Dissman.  They gave their restaurant that funny name because they thought it was just that… funny.

Recently, Schlotzsky’s has partnered with Cinnabon to serve cinnamon rolls at select locations.  Julio Van Scoit is the owner of the northwest Grand Prairie location which just added a Cinnabon Express.  He is confident in the potential success of the venture, and believes it will add to the loyal customer base. “If they try it once, they’ll be back,” says Van Scoit.

The restaurant is located at 2035 N. Highway 360, on the southbound service road, near Chapp’s Café.  From the customer’s perspective, the store is clean, and that is backed up by the city’s April 2010 inspection which gave them an “A”.  Schlotzsky’s staff is friendly, and orders are served quickly and accurately.

A gooey Cinnabon Classic Roll will cost you $3.49.  When you add with your combo meal and tax, you are probably near $10.  It’s a bit pricey if you’re comparing with fast-food, but not when you consider other delis’ complete meal cost.  Also, there are coupons available in the Ad Pages in your mailbox or at AdPages.com, for a free Classic Roll with purchase of a medium combo.  Not a bad deal for a very filling lunch.

There are 15 different sandwiches on the menu at Schlotzsky’s.  Currently, the company is promoting a Make Your Picks 66 contest which focuses on a trio:  Albuquerque Turkey, Tulsa Two-Step Angus Beef and Cheddar, and Windy City Pastrami and Swiss.  The grand prize is a 6-night family vacation to your ideal spot on Route 66.  Entries are being accepted through August 29, 2010, at www.makeyourpicks66.com.
