Schlotzsky’s Makes the Summer Sizzle with ‘Hot Hitz’ Promotion

Nation’s leading fast casual concept serves up three new sandwiches for limited time

AUSTIN – (June 2, 2011) Schlotzsky’s is spicing things up this summer as it brings back two popular sandwich combinations and unveils a third for its ‘Hot Hitz’ summer promotion.

Through August 28, 2011, the famous fast casual restaurant concept, home to The Original® round toasted sandwich, will offer two oldies but goodies, The Albuquerque Turkey and Windy City Pastrami, while rolling out its new Buffalo Chicken sandwich. The trio of mouthwatering sandwiches is sure to be a ‘Hot Hit’ with customers as they seek to satisfy their lunch and dinner time cravings at Schlotzsky’s.

“The Albuquerque Turkey and Windy City Pastrami are two longtime favorites that our customers rave about,” said Kelly Roddy, president of Schlotzsky’s. “We’re excited to share the news on our limited time offer promotion while introducing our newcomer, the Buffalo Chicken sandwich, which is hearty and full of flavor. We look forward to serving our customers the best in delectable gourmet sandwiches.”

Each new sandwich features high-quality, premium meats, cheeses, homemade dressings and veggies, served on fresh, toasted round buns.

 

Buffalo Chicken

Thinly sliced roasted chicken breast, mozzarella cheese, lettuce, tomato and red onion, topped with Schlotzsky’s famous Louisiana hot sauce on toasted Sourdough bread and served with bleu cheese dressing on the side.

 

Albuquerque Turkey

Smoked turkey breast and crispy bacon with cheddar, mozzarella, and parmesan cheeses layered with fire-roasted vegetables, chipotle mayonnaise, shredded lettuce, tomato on toasted Jalapeño Cheese bread.

 

Windy City Pastrami

Premium New York-style pastrami and melted Swiss cheese with Dijon mustard on our unique, toasted Dark Rye bread.

  1. I heard you guys are test marketing gluten free buns in Dallas, is that true?

    • Hi Melissa,

      Not quite. We’re developing gluten free buns internally, but they haven’t made it to public test yet. Should be soon, though. We know gluten free options are an important issue with many folks!

    • Really miss eating your great sandwiches. I previously ate at Scchlotzsky’s 2-3 times per week. But need gluten free now. Please hurry with those GF buns.

    • I just went to Schlotzsky’s today (Austin, TX) and while I was waiting for my salad saw that they have gluten-free buns! Haven’t tried them yet but I want to next time!

  3. I’m another lover of Schlotzky’s sandwiches and just recently found out I need gluten free bread! Was wondering if 2012 might be the year for gluten free sandwiches?

      • Hey Kerri – Thanks for the input. Perfecting a gluten free bun is harder than we thought! We want to make sure our gluten free options are of the same quality as our fresh-baked bread, so it’s been hard finding the perfect option, but we are working on it! – Amanda

    • We are still working on the gluten free bun. We have some in test in a very limited number of locations and once we get those results, we’ll have a better idea of how and when we will move forward with getting the gluten free bun in our restaurants. Thanks for checking with us! – Amanda

  6. Oh Gosh count me in too on the gluten free bandwagon. Ever since I’ve had to quit gluten.. the one thing I miss more than anything is Schlotzkys. Just thinking about it makes me cry!

    • We’re working on it! There are gluten free buns in test in a small number of locations. Keep your fingers crossed for good results so we can get them out systemwide! – Amanda

    • I couldn’t agree more with Kate! the biggest thing I miss since going GF is Schlotzkys. I honestly went there every day for about 8 straight years before the diagnosis of celiac.

  7. are there any gluten free buns in test in TX locations. My son and i have been gluten free since January and i really miss my favorite sandwich place. we live in the dallas area.

    • Right now, we are testing a line of gluten free buns in Austin. The test just started last week, so once we have a chance for people to taste it and give us feedback, we’ll be able to expand into other cities. – Amanda

    • We just finished a small test at one of our locations in Austin. We’re evaluating the feedback to determine our next steps for a more extensive test. – Amanda

  11. Please, please, please come out with a gluten free bun! I know it won’t hold a candle to your signature buns, but would love to be able to eat at Schlotzkys again. And while your at it…I am sure gluten intolerant kids would appreciate you pizza being on a GF crust!
